Customer experienced poor customer service at coles self-serve checkout, felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. considers switching to woolworths for better service.
Since I can't make an online enquiry directly to, Coles because of technical reasons on their end, I'm forced to come here. This is a Customer service complaint, that I experienced today at around 9am, 04/07/24. At the self-service checkouts, I was trying to scan this vegetable item that was in a bag. I was sorting it out, when this staff monitor, the one's who hawk-eye customers using those checkouts, came over without me summoning his help. He pretty much snatched the item from me, saying, “that won't work.” Or something of that nature. I did not appreciate that. Then telling me to scan it, by the tiny barcode it had inside the bag. I had to take it out of the plastic bag to do so, since it wouldn't scan, otherwise. Then shortly after, he comes over again when the checkout detected a problem. Well, he made damn sure I'd scanned certain items. Didn't say anything or show a smile, just treated me like a fool and unwelcome. Conducting himself in a frigid, unemotional way. Then he kept watching me the whole time while I paid for my items and left the premises. In my opinion, it was improper, poor conduct, to say the least. I could only shake my head, yet again. Something should be done about Coles customer service. This isn't the first unpleasant experience I've had with their staff. There have been several in the past. I am so sick of being hawk-eyed at those self-serve checkouts by these people. It's uncomfortable, and annoying. The only reason I go, is that it's close to where I live, otherwise I'd continue to shop at Woolworths, where the atmosphere and service is far more welcoming and pleasant. I am hesitant to go back, always, because Coles customer service staff, just never learn!

Customer experienced a frightening incident at coles with an aggressive man making threats, staff did not take appropriate action to ensure safety.
Today 2/7/24 at 3:30pm I arrived to Cessnock Coles 2325 to purchase a few items. Was in the store for less then 5mins friut & veg section and I could hear a male yelling, I did not take to much notice as he walk passed the front service desk and deli still yelling. The male stopped in the bakery section and yelling very loud as I walked pass that he was very angry and he was going to stab every c*#t in the F**king neck.. I became very frightened and made my way to a staff member who was working in the fruit and vegetables. The young Cole’s staff member told me he heard him yelling but did not hear him say he was going to stab everybody. The staff member did not reassure me that everything was okay as I started having a Panic attack. He told me to stay where I was and spoke to the girls in front desk. One of the young female Cole’s walked pass me and I told her what I heard and she was smiling and laughed. The fruit & veg worker came back and told me that staff was not able to find him and left again. In the mean time I called my husband to help with my anxiety as I was not sure if this man had a knife on him or not the male staff walked towards me with a very elderly gentlemen who was frightened aswell. The staff was still letting shoppers enter the store I was frozen with fear in fruit and vegetables and a lovely lady helped to calm me down. We eventually seen the aggressive male at the self-service. As I new the aggressive mile was out of the store. I continued getting a few items. I asked the Cole’s staff member at front desk and she told me that she wasn’t sure what happen only customers was complaining about the aggressive man and he was saying to elderly people that he was going to punch their heads. I’m extremely disappointed there was no action taken police called or protocols to help protect the customers that was in the store at that time. ALL STAFF SHOULD HAVE TAKEN ACTION. Customers should feel safe.

Nothing happened just want to put a good job to a young girl at Coles in hoppers crossing on the corner of tareint Rd and hogan's Rd her name was Rebecca she did a fantastic job on Saturday when she was serving at the cash register she was so polite and friendly and very helpful packing our groceries this young girl should be at least recognise for her job there are not many like her

Customer upset with coles store manager patrick's rude behavior, seeking apology, investigation, and retraining for better customer service.
I wish to lodge a formal complaint against your Cairns Earlville store manager ‘Patrick’. On Sunday the 16th June 2024, at approximately 0910 I was challenged at the front counter for attempting to purchase 3 cartons of eggs, the lady at the checkout was very professional and told me that there was a two carton limit on all egg sales, which I was aware of. I explained that I had only added the third carton to purchase for my parents as they were ‘Clearance items’ which had a very short expiry date and I was told by a Coles team member in the section that the 2 carton limit did not apply to the eggs I was purchasing as they were clearance items, the team member went on to explain that a day before a person was able to purchase a trolley full of eggs without any issue . On this advice I selected a 3rd carton to purchase. After I explained this to the Coles team member at the checkout she explained that the system would not allow the purchase. I then asked if I could refer the matter to the manager as I felt this situation was not fair and equitable to all customers. I was very obvious that when the store manager ‘Patrick’ arrived to speak with me , that he was in a foul mood already, he simply said ‘2 is the store limit’, I also explained to him what had I been told by the Coles team member and he replied, ‘If you don’t like it, you can leave the store’, I did reply that I would leave once I was ready and paid for my groceries. I went on to say that in future he could arrange signage, with that he left and went to retrieve the 2 carton limit sign whilst I finalised paying for my groceries. ‘Patrick’ did return with his sign and got more upset when I asked why the person a day earlier was allowed to purchase a large trolley full of the clearance eggs? ‘Patrick’ then demanded I leave the store. I did reply that I would be sending in a formal complaint regarding his attitude and he replied ‘Do what you like, I don’t care’ as he turned to walk away. it was very obvious that your store manager ‘Patrick’ was not at all interested in any explanations which did not include telling me to leave the store, he felt that he was a busy man who was focussed on ensuring that I did not get a third carton of eggs and that he could assert himself as a misguided manager. Understanding that he would not admit that his staff member may have misinformed me regarding the egg quantities, I made my own assumptions that a different manager on a different day was able to minimise store losses more effectively? As he turned his back to walk away I stated the obvious and called him a twit. My concerns are that, I have always shopped at Coles and I have never encountered any issues with any staff or other customers, If this manager ‘Patrick’ treats customers so rudely, how bad does he treat his staff? And will this complaint actually be investigated? (Patrick needs to be trained or retrained in how to determine what is a legitimate customer concern and how to treat all customer equally fair). Having spent many years in management and now senior management, I teach managers to investigate the truth before shooting off their mouth, and in this case throwing a customer out of the store when there is no arguing or no yelling, only a legitimate question on applying the rules equally to everyone. It was apparent that your store manager Patrick is not equipped or trained to hold his position or give a simple explanation that his staff member may have given some bad shopping advice which lead to me wanting to question a manager in the hope they would respond maturely considering the position of authority they hold and the company they are representing. According to your store manager ‘Patrick’, I am no longer able to enter his store, I should count myself lucky that I can shop in the unfamiliar Woolworths next door in Cairns Earlville shopping centre. II can now understand why people are seeking alternatives to Coles. I look forward to a reply as I would be interested to see if my concerns are taken seriously or if will receive a standard reply.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received from Coles Online concerning my recent order, [193148339], placed on [Wed 5 June]. I have been a loyal customer of Coles for several years and have always been satisfied with the quality and efficiency of your service. However, the issues I experienced with this particular order have been quite frustrating and have compelled me to bring them to your attention. 1. Order Cancellation: Initially, my order was cancelled post the expteded delivery date and time. This unexpected cancellation caused considerable inconvenience and stress. 2. Pickup Arrangement: After calling and complaining, I was informed that I could pick up my order from the Oakleigh store. This arrangement was not ideal, but I agreed to it as I needed the items urgently for a function to be held on Saturday afternoon. 3. Pickup Experience: This morning (sat 8 June), I went to the Oakleigh store to collect my order. After a 20-minute wait, the staff finally “found” my order but informed me that my two bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label could not be fulfilled. I was told I would receive a refund in the next 2-3 days. This is not acceptable as I needed the items for today’s function. I have no record of a refund other than this letter of complaint. The entire experience has been extremely frustrating and has disrupted my plans significantly. I kindly request the following actions to rectify the situation: - Immediate delivery of the two bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label as I had ordered and paid for. If you didn’t have stock then why do I have an invoice for fulfillment. You system should not have charged me as you could not fulfill. - Suitable compensation for the inconvenience caused by the order cancellation, the delayed pickup, and the unfulfilled items. Your $20 voucher is not enough for my time, effort and stress caused. If these issues are not addressed promptly and satisfactorily, I will have no choice but to share my negative experience with others, both through personal channels and on social media, to highlight the inefficiencies in Coles Online’s processes. I have always appreciated the convenience that Coles Online provides, but these recent issues have significantly diminished my satisfaction with your service. Customer complains of false accusations and mistreatment by coles staff member, resulting in job loss and personal struggles. urgently seeking investigation and resolution.
I work for a transport company that delivers to Coles DCs nationwide. In December 2023 a Coles staff member wrote up a fraudulent report claiming I had called her and threatened her and refused to wait for my delivery time, thos is absolutely untrue. I called to ask if they knew how long the delay would be , as I Waa running out of driving hours. This woman, Theresa, was horrible, she was extremely rude and unprofessional to me, then gleefully told me she's cancelled my load and kicking me off sites. When I then asked for her name and informed her I would report her behaviour the following morning, she has panicked and written up a page full of lies to cover her tracks, and had me banned fir life from all Coles DCs. I have written to management, along with the compliance department from my work, but they simply refuse to look into it. I'm about to lose my job because of this and it's not right. I did nothing wrong, and she's lying to save her own skin. For 8 maths now, I'm losing massive amounts of money due to severe cut back on hours. And my marriage has suffered immensely. I'm depressed, anxious, stressed out, scared, all the possible horrible feelings you can imagine. I am pleading for thos to be Investigated urgently as it has literally destroyed my life, with my marriage about to follow suit. The call recordings will show with 100% certainty that I am telling the truth but nobody will listen . I am about to lose my job from this and my family is suffering immensely. This took place at Parkinson DC in Qld just prior to Xmas

Customer seeks $2000 and apology from coles for multiple issues including incorrect charges, order cancellations, and delayed refunds blaming banks.
Multiple problems. Will charge me Tuesday special prices Tuesday night and then they take another higher payment Wednesday morning for higher non special prices. Constantly canceling orders because of computer issues and blaming my funds when they take pending payments so this doesn't make sense. They take a pending payment and then say it's canceled because of funds . They do not return money instantly they wait 10 days for the order to expire and then the money is returned. They refuse to help and say it's the banks fault the bank says it's their fault and fully explained that coles waits for the order to expire before returning the money. Coles tried to deny they do this . This problem affected me severely several times. I want compensation of $2000 added to my account in credits.
