Customer seeking resolution for delayed tax return for late mother, concerned about ongoing delays and possible untoward activity.
Hi , I've been following up for a number of months with my accountant (Korch) directly, the call centre has promised to arrange for an accountant to call back and I have sent a number of emails. I need the return for my late mother settled asap. H&R Block's delays over months with this has disrupted the processing of mum's estate. Ongoing and repeated delays despite promises to get this done are cause for significant concern. I am starting to fear untoward activity in relation to this. Customer wants an apology from h&r block for being charged twice and seeks to get their money back.
I just had money taken out of my account that apparently was my tax fee, where I had it taken out of my tax return last year. On my account it says that Nat H&R Block took it out. I would appreciate finding out why I was charged twice, and if I can get my money back.

Hi,<br />HR Block Clarkson branch has submitted my tax return for the last 5 years. I have always been happy with the service or I would not have been a repeat customer.<br /><br />Having dealt with Gopal the branch manager today (06/08/2024), I left the office after being informed that I would be receiving a refund $2,806.81. I was delighted and rang my wife to arrange a celebratory meal out and looked forward to spending the money wisely.<br /><br />Around an hour or so later Gopal rang to say that I had made a tax lost a few years ago ( I used to be on the ABN) and that instead of getting a tax refund I now owed the tax ATO $83.<br /><br />I asked how HR Block had missed this given that they were my accountants for the period of the tax lost, were well aware of it and should have dealt with the situation previously.<br /><br />I was not given a satisfactory answer and all Gopal was concerned with was getting me to go back and re-sign. This has yet to happen as it is currently not convenient.<br /><br />As a layman who is ignorant of the complexities of tax returns, I have always used accountants. This is because I believe that licenced accountants will be effective, efficient and compliant in dealing with ATO on my behalf and ensuring that there are no financial surprises that appear unexpectedly and to my detriment.<br /><br />The outcome I expect is a clear explanation of where HR Block have gone wrong in not identifying and rectifying this issue earlier, given the years they have acted as my accountants of choice.<br /><br />To prevent recurrence the company needs to ensure that they disseminate issues such as this to their staff, in order to improve their service.<br /><br />Given that HR Block has let me down badly, they should cover the cost of the money required by ATO and not me.
