Bunnings offers a relatively generous refund policy, especially for change-of-mind returns within about 30 days. To qualify, the item must be unused, in original packaging, and accompanied by proof of purchase like a receipt or tax invoice.
No receipt? You may still be eligible for a store credit, but you’ll need to show valid photo ID.
Not eligible for return: Custom-cut items, tinted paint, opened pet food, toilet seats, and portable toilets are excluded from change-of-mind returns.
Faulty or misrepresented products are still refundable beyond 30 days, thanks to your rights under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Bonus: Live plants come with a 12-month guarantee. Dead or unhealthy plants (except seedlings) can be returned with a receipt for a refund.
How to get a refund from Bunnings
- Go to any Bunnings store. Returns don't need to happen at the original location.
- Let the door staff know you're making a return and head to the Returns & Exchanges Desk.
- Bring your receipt or card used for purchase. Lost receipt? Bring ID or bank statements - they might help recover the sale record.
