Target cancellations – how to easily cancel your subscription or service
Can you cancel your Target subscription? Check eligibility and conditions
You can cancel your Target Australia online order provided it hasn’t yet left the warehouse. Once dispatched, you’ll need to use the return process instead.
Important Cancellation Conditions:
- Online Orders: Only cancellable before dispatch. Once shipped, cancellations aren’t possible.
- Pre-Orders: Cannot be cancelled before delivery due to system limitations. You’ll need to return the product upon arrival for a refund.
- Personalised Items: These orders are final at checkout, no cancellations or change-of-mind returns.
- Other Restrictions: Target may cancel orders due to payment issues, suspected fraud, or stock problems (with a full refund). There are no special cancellation fees for eligible cancellations.
How to cancel a Target subscription, service or order
Follow these steps to cancel quickly:
1. Act Promptly:
Check your order status ASAP by logging into your Target account. Orders still marked as “Processing” can typically be cancelled.
2. Contact Target Support:
Target doesn’t offer one-click cancellation online, so reach out directly:
- Fastest option: Live Chat (8am–9pm AEST, daily)
- Phone: Call 1300 753 567 (Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, Sat 8am–5pm AEST).
- Email/Online Form: Choose the “Order changes” category on Target’s contact form or email customersupport@target.com.au (include order number).
Tip: If phone hold times are excessive, switch to email or live chat. Customers report quicker responses via these channels.
3. Request Cancellation:
Provide your order number and clearly request cancellation. Target support will confirm eligibility.
4. Confirmation:
You’ll receive an email confirming your cancellation. No charges will occur or a refund will be initiated.
Subscription Note (OnePass):
If cancelling a OnePass subscription activated via Target, visit your OnePass account settings. You’ll retain benefits until your paid period ends, without extra charges.
How long does a Target cancellation take?
- Before Dispatch: No strict cancellation deadline, but orders typically ship within 1-2 business days. Act immediately after placing your order for best results.
- After Dispatch: Too late for cancellation. You’ll need to return your items (free via mail or in-store) under Target’s 60-day returns policy.
- Click & Collect: Orders not collected within 19 days automatically cancel and are refunded.
- Pre-Orders: Can't cancel before delivery. Initiate a return post-delivery if unwanted.
- Lay-by (in-store only): Can cancel at any time, but a small fee ($5–$10) may apply in-store.
Target cancellation fees and final charges – what to expect
- No Cancellation Fees: Target does not charge for cancelling eligible online orders. You’ll receive a full refund, including shipping fees.
- In-store Lay-by Exception: A nominal admin fee applies for cancelling lay-by (typically $5–$10).
- No Hidden Charges: Returning shipped items is free through Australia Post or in-store drop-off.
- Gift Cards: Refunded orders originally paid via gift card will be refunded as a new gift card/code. Keep proof of your original card.
