Trying to cancel Bing Lee? Avoid the runaround.
Can you cancel your Bing Lee subscription? Check eligibility and conditions
Bing Lee takes a strict stance on cancellations and change-of-mind returns. Unlike some other retailers, Bing Lee does not allow returns simply because you changed your mind after delivery. Your best option is to cancel before your order is dispatched.
Here’s how cancellation eligibility works:
- You can cancel an online order before dispatch by contacting Bing Lee immediately - ideally within 24 hours of placing the order.
- Once your order has been shipped, Bing Lee typically will not accept a cancellation or return unless there’s a legitimate issue (such as a wrong item, delay, or fault).
- After an item is delivered, Bing Lee does not accept returns for change of mind under any circumstance. Only faulty or misdescribed items qualify for a return or refund under Australian Consumer Law.
- For Click & Collect orders, you can cancel at any time before picking up the item. If you don’t collect it within seven days, Bing Lee will automatically cancel the order and refund you.
- For in-store purchases, cancellation after payment or pickup is generally not possible. However, if you placed a lay-by or backorder and wish to cancel before collecting it, the store may agree at its discretion.
In short, you can only cancel before dispatch or collection. After that, Bing Lee’s official position is no change-of-mind cancellations or returns.
How to cancel a Bing Lee subscription, service or order
Bing Lee doesn’t offer ongoing subscriptions, so cancellations only apply to one-off purchases. The key to success is acting quickly.
To cancel your Bing Lee order:
- Call Bing Lee’s customer care team right away. The fastest method is to ring 1300 609 228, available Monday to Saturday (7am–8pm) and Sunday (10am–8pm AEST). When connected, provide your order number and explain that you’d like to cancel before dispatch.
- Confirm whether your order has shipped. If it hasn’t, they’ll cancel and arrange your refund immediately. If it has shipped, they may advise you to refuse delivery, but note that change-of-mind refunds after dispatch are rarely accepted.
- Use email or live chat as a backup. You can email customercare@binglee.zendesk.com or message through Bing Lee’s live chat on their website. Include your name, order number, and contact details. Email is best used outside phone hours or if you want a paper trail.
- Contact the store directly for in-person purchases. If you made your purchase in a Bing Lee store, call or visit that same location. Some store managers will allow cancellation before the goods are collected, but once the item is in your possession, the sale is final.
- Get confirmation in writing. Whether you cancel by phone, chat, or email, ask for an email confirmation of your cancellation and refund. Keep the representative’s name, date, and time of your call for your records.
- Track your refund. Refunds generally take between three and seven business days to appear, depending on your payment method.
If it’s outside business hours, send an email as soon as possible to timestamp your request (that proves you acted early). Then, follow up by phone the next morning to finalise it.
How long does a Bing Lee cancellation take?
Timing is crucial with Bing Lee orders. You can cancel your order only before dispatch, which typically happens within one to two business days after purchase. Sometimes, dispatch can even occur the same day, so it’s best to cancel within a few hours of placing the order.
Once your order has been dispatched or shipped, Bing Lee will not cancel it for change of mind. If you’ve received a shipping confirmation email or tracking number, your cancellation window has effectively closed.
For Click & Collect orders, you can cancel up until the point of pickup. If you don’t pick up within seven days, Bing Lee will automatically cancel and refund your order.
There’s no official cooling-off period for electronics or appliance purchases, so once it’s shipped or collected, the transaction is considered final unless there’s a fault or unreasonable delay.
Refunds for successfully cancelled orders are typically processed within three to five business days for card or PayPal payments and up to seven days for Afterpay or Zip purchases.
Bing Lee cancellation fees and final charges – what to expect
If you cancel your Bing Lee order before it ships, there are no cancellation fees. You’ll receive a full refund, including any delivery charge.
However, once an item has been dispatched, you’ll likely lose the delivery fee if the truck has already left or the product has been labeled for shipping. If you refuse delivery, Bing Lee may deduct the delivery cost from your refund.
Because Bing Lee does not accept change-of-mind returns, failing to cancel before dispatch can effectively cost you 100% of the purchase price. They will not refund once the product is delivered and working as described.
In rare, goodwill cases, Bing Lee may agree to take back an unopened product with a restocking fee, typically around 15–20% of the product’s price, especially for large appliances or TVs. This isn’t guaranteed, and approval is purely discretionary.
Lay-by cancellations may also incur a small deposit loss or admin fee, depending on your store’s terms.
In short, cancel early to avoid fees. Once an order has shipped, expect to lose your delivery charge, and if it’s been delivered, expect no refund at all.
