Can you get a refund from Foot Locker? Check eligibility first
Foot Locker Australia accepts refunds under strict conditions, especially for change-of-mind returns, so understanding the rules upfront is key.
✔ 28-Day Refund Window (Strict)
You must return items within 28 days of purchase (in-store) or delivery (online). After 28 days refunds are refused.
✔ Items Must Be Unworn & New
Eligible items must be:
- Completely unworn
- Clean soles, no creasing, no marks
- Tags still attached
- Clothing unwashed

If shoes look worn Foot Locker will deny the refund.
✔ Original Packaging Required
The original shoebox is mandatory. No box = no refund.
Shoe boxes must be undamaged (no tape, no tears).
✔ Proof of Purchase Required
Accepted proof includes:
- Store receipt
- Online Tax Invoice
- Order confirmation email
No receipt = no refund (store credit may be offered at the manager's discretion).
✔ Faulty or Wrong Items (ACL Rights Apply)
If the product is faulty or not as described, you’re entitled to a refund, exchange, or repair.
This applies even if the item has been worn or is outside the 28-day window.
❌ Not Eligible for Refunds
- Items showing wear or washing
- Second-exchange items (if already exchanged once)
- Raffle-win or promotional giveaway items
- Certain hygiene items (e.g., socks/underwear if opened)
- “Final Sale” or marked non-returnable products

Common refund issues with Foot Locker
1. Item shows signs of wear → refund denied
Even minor marks, creasing or dirt = refusal.
2. Missing shoebox → refund denied
The shoebox is considered part of the product. No box = automatic rejection.
3. Out of 28-day window
Foot Locker is extremely strict. Even one day late could result in a refusal.
4. Refund delays & poor communication
Some customers report waiting weeks, or longer, for refunds on Click & Collect or online orders. Persistence is key.
5. Shipping fee not refunded for faults (in-store)
Some stores won’t refund the original online shipping fee unless mailed back via the portal. You may need to push for this.
6. Exchange complications
Foot Locker won’t ship replacements. You must reorder after refund for size issues.

Customer experiences with Foot Locker refund cases
Return Refused Without Box: Erin tried to return unworn shoes but had thrown away the shoebox. Her return was denied. Keep every part of the packaging until you’re sure.
Click & Collect Refund Delay: Tony waited over 60 days for a refund from a cancelled Click & Collect order. It was only resolved after multiple escalations.
Faulty Shoes Dispute: John returned faulty shoes in-store. The store refunded the shoes but refused to refund the original shipping fee, which sparked major frustration.
How Foot Locker Refund Policy Compares to Competitors
Foot Locker vs JD Sports
- JD offers 30-day returns (slightly longer)
- JD makes you pay your own postage (can cost more than $10)
- JD extends holiday returns to 60 days; Foot Locker often doesn’t
- Both require unworn condition & original packaging
Foot Locker vs Hype DC / Platypus
- Hype DC charges $10 for postal returns, same as Foot Locker
- Hype sometimes refuses refunds on sale items (store credit only)
- Foot Locker refunds sale items normally
- Hype offers 30 days; Foot Locker offers 28
Foot Locker vs Nike/Adidas Direct
- Nike offers 30 days, free returns, even if lightly worn
- Adidas offers 30 days, usually unworn
- Foot Locker is more restrictive and charges return fees
- But Foot Locker carries multiple brands in one place
Overall: Foot Locker’s refund policy sits in the middle of the industry.
