Can you return an item to Zara? Check eligibility first
Zara Australia allows returns within 30 days of purchase or shipment, depending on whether the item was bought in-store or online. Items must be in their original condition, unworn, unwashed, and with tags attached.
Certain items have stricter rules:
- Swimwear → hygiene sticker intact.
- Underwear → women’s only if in original packaging. Men’s/kids’ usually not returnable.
- Accessories → must include original packaging.
- Fragrances & cosmetics → unopened/sealed, returned in-store only.
- Customised/personalised products → no returns unless faulty.
- Packs → must be returned in full, not item by item.
All returns must be made in the same country of purchase. For Australia, that means all Zara Australia purchases must be returned within Australia.
How to return an item to Zara
You’ve got two main options:
- In-store return (free) → Bring the item(s) plus proof of purchase (receipt or Zara app QR code) to any Zara store in Australia. Returns are processed on the spot at no cost.
- Postal/drop-off return (A$3.95 fee) → Log into your Zara account or guest return portal, request a return via Zara support, and follow instructions to print a label or use a QR code. Pack the item securely (any box is fine), attach the label, and drop it off at the designated postal point.
If the item is faulty or incorrectly shipped, the return fee is waived.

- Original box not required: Any sturdy box or satchel works.

Zara strictly enforces the 30-day cutoff. Returns after this timeframe are generally refused (unless faulty).
Who pays for Zara return shipping?
- In-store returns → Always free.
- Postal returns → Flat fee of A$3.95, deducted from refund. One fee applies per return shipment (you can combine items/orders).
- Exceptions → Fee waived if Zara made a mistake or the product was defective.
- Delivery fees → Original shipping fees (e.g. express delivery) are not refunded unless the entire order was faulty.
Zara refunds after a return - how and when you’ll get your money back
- Refund method: Same payment method used at purchase.
- In-store purchases → Refund on the spot.
- Online orders → Refund processed within 2–3 business days of warehouse receipt. Funds appear in your account in up to 14 days.
- Gift cards → Refunded as credit back onto a gift card (physical or electronic).
- Split payments → Refunds split back accordingly.
- Afterpay/Klarna → Adjusted/cancelled per provider’s process.
If your card has expired, refunds still process to that account - your bank will handle reassignment. Always keep Zara’s refund confirmation email for bank follow-ups.
