Spotlight accepts change-of-mind returns within 28 days of purchase,as long as you meet the conditions.
28-Day Change-of-Mind Returns
You have 28 days from the purchase date to return items for a refund or exchange. After 28 days, change-of-mind returns are generally refused.
Proof of Purchase Required
Bring one of the following:
- Original receipt
- Online tax invoice
- Bank statement (case-by-case)
- VIP membership purchase history
A receipt or invoice is strongly preferred.
Condition Requirements
Items must be:
- Unused
- Undamaged
- In original packaging
- In resellable condition
- With all parts, manuals, and accessories
Spotlight may refuse the return if the item is used, missing parts, or not fit for resale.
Non-Returnable Items (Change of Mind)
The following items cannot be returned for change of mind:
- Cut-to-length fabrics, laces, trims
- Bridal fabrics
- Clearance items
- Opened sewing machines, crafting machines
- Custom-made curtains, blinds, shutters
- Supplier Direct and Online-Only items
- Cut-to-size blinds
- Gift cards
ID May Be Required
Spotlight may request ID (e.g., driver’s licence) to record the return. This is standard practice and aligns with their policy.
Faulty Items
Faulty goods are always eligible for a remedy under Australian Consumer Law, even outside 28 days or in a non-returnable category.
How to return an item to Spotlight
Spotlight offers both in-store and online return options.
1. In-Store Returns (Recommended)
Bring your item and proof of purchase to any Spotlight store. Staff will:
- Inspect the item
- Verify eligibility
- Process a refund, exchange, or store credit
Returns typically take just a few minutes.
2. Online Order Returns by Mail
Spotlight encourages store returns, but postal returns are possible.
Step 1 — Contact Spotlight Customer Service
Use the Contact Us form or call customer service with:
- Order number
- Item you wish to return
- Reason for return
Step 2 — Pack your item
Securely package the product with:
- Original packaging
- A copy of your invoice or order details
Step 3 — Post your return
Spotlight will provide the return address. You must pay return shipping for change-of-mind returns.
Step 4 — Exchange via mail
Spotlight generally processes mailed returns as refunds, you then place a new order if needed.
3. Bulky & Supplier Direct Returns
Large items, big rolls of fabric, furniture, and Supplier-Direct products follow a special process. Contact customer service for instructions.
4. Faulty Items
Faulty goods can be returned in-store or via customer service. Spotlight may:
- Repair
- Replace
- Refund
They may request photos or send items for manufacturer assessment.

Who pays for Spotlight return shipping?
In-Store Returns — Free
Spotlight does not charge for returns made in-store.
Postal Returns — Customer Pays (Change of Mind)
Spotlight does not offer free return shipping for change-of-mind returns. You must cover the postage cost when mailing an item back.
Original Delivery Fees
Not refunded for change-of-mind returns.
Refunded Shipping for Faulty Items
If Spotlight sent a faulty or incorrect product, they will:
- Cover return shipping
- Refund original delivery costs
- Or reimburse reasonable expenses with proof
Click & Collect Returns
Treat Click & Collect items the same as in-store purchases, bring them back to any store.

- Card → same card
- PayPal/Afterpay → refunded through platform
- Cash → refunded in-store (or to card for large amounts)
- Gift card purchase → refunded to a gift card

- Return + new purchase
- Direct item swap at equal value
Store Credit / Exchange Vouchers
Issued if:
- You don’t have a receipt (discretionary)
- You choose store credit
- You exchanged for a cheaper product

- In-store refunds: immediate processing, 2–5 business days to appear
- Postal returns: allow 1–2 weeks for shipping + processing
