? Avoid the runaround.

• Account closure → Cancel anytime if your balance = $0. No lock-in contracts or penalties.
  
  
• Outstanding balance → You must pay off all purchases, fees, and charges before Zip closes your account.
  
  
• Zip card vs account → Closing your Zip virtual card does not close your account – you need to request a full account closure separately.
  
  
• Order cancellations → Handled by the merchant. Once they issue a refund, Zip credits your account.
  

Close your Zip account (via app):

1. Open Zip app → go to Profile.
   
   
2. Select Manage Zip Pay/Money account.
   
   
3. Tap Close Account and follow prompts.
   
   
4. Confirm closure – you’ll get confirmation in-app.
   
   

Alternative methods:

• Submit a closure request via Zip Help Centre form.
  
  
• Call Zip 02 8294 2345 or email hello@care.zip.co. Identity verification required.
  
  

Cancel an order/payment:

• Contact the merchant directly.
  
  
• If approved, refund → credited to Zip account (up to 14 business days).
  
  
• If no balance owing, refund creates credit. Request payout to your bank if you don’t want to leave it on account.
  

• Account closure → Instant via app once your balance is $0. If via form/email, allow a few business days for review.
  
  
• Final payments → BPAY may take 3–5 business days to clear before account can close.
  
  
• Refunds from merchants → Up to 14 business days depending on store processing.
  
  
• Notice periods → None. Zip doesn’t require 30 days’ notice – close anytime.
  

⚡ Tip: Pay your balance a few days before closure to avoid delays from payment clearance.

• No cancellation fees → Zip does not charge account closure fees.
  
  
• What you must pay → Any outstanding balance, monthly fees ($9.95 Zip Pay) or late fees up to cancellation date.
  
  
• Refund of credit balances → If you overpay or get a refund, you can request Zip to return credit to your bank.
  
  
• No refunds on fees → Monthly/late fees already paid are not reversed.
