Can you cancel your Tidal subscription? Check eligibility and conditions
TIDAL lets you cancel your subscription anytime - there are no lock-in contracts for standard plans (Premium, HiFi, Family, Student, etc.). This applies to both free trials and paid subscriptions.
The key condition is where you subscribed:
- Subscribed directly with TIDAL (web billing): You can cancel inside your TIDAL account settings.
- Subscribed via Apple App Store or Google Play: You must cancel through Apple/Google, because TIDAL can’t cancel those subscriptions for you.
- Bundled subscriptions (carrier/partner deals): You generally need to cancel through the provider that bills you.
A couple of other important eligibility notes:
- Cancel before your next billing date to avoid being charged for the next period.
- Family plans: only the primary account holder can cancel the plan (other family members can’t cancel it).
How to cancel a Tidal subscription, service or order
Follow the steps below based on how you signed up.
If you subscribed directly with TIDAL (recommended web method)
- Go to "TIDAL account management": https://account.tidal.com
- Log in to the account that has the active subscription.
- Open the "Subscription" section.
- Select "Cancel Subscription" and follow the prompts to confirm.
- After cancellation, your subscription should show an end/expiry date (meaning it won’t renew).
If you subscribed via Apple (iPhone/iPad)
- Cancel in your Apple subscriptions: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → TIDAL → Cancel Subscription
If you subscribed via Google Play (Android)
- Cancel in Google Play: Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → TIDAL → Cancel
If you subscribed via a carrier/partner bundle
- Cancel through the billing partner (your carrier/provider). Check your provider’s subscription management area or contact their support.
Tip: Save proof. Take a screenshot of the cancellation confirmation screen and/or keep any confirmation email.
How long does a Tidal cancellation take?
TIDAL doesn’t have a “30-day notice period” style rule. Instead, cancellations typically work like this:
- Cancel any time, but your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period.
- After you cancel, you keep access until the plan expires, then your account moves to the free tier (or limited access).
To avoid an extra charge:
- Cancel before your next billing date.
- For safety (and to avoid time zone or processing surprises), it’s smart to cancel 1–2 days before renewal, especially if you subscribed through Apple or Google.
Free trials:
- If you cancel during a free trial, you usually keep access until the trial end date, and it won’t convert into a paid subscription.
Annual plans:
- If you paid annually, cancellation usually means it won’t renew. You keep access until the prepaid year ends.
Tidal cancellation fees and final charges – what to expect
TIDAL doesn’t charge a cancellation fee.
What you might still pay for:
- If your subscription has already renewed for a new billing period, that charge typically stands - you’ll keep access for that period, but you generally won’t get that payment back just because you cancelled after renewal.
One practical watch-out (especially for Family plans):
- After canceling, keep an eye on billing for the next cycle to confirm no further charges appear. If anything looks off, contact support right away with your cancellation proof.

Consumer experiences with Tidal cancellations
Some customers report that cancel options feel hidden and feel they miss the button or have to scroll far to find it.
Users who cancel in the wrong place (eg. trying to cancel on the TIDAL website when they subscribed via Apple/Google) often run into trouble.
