Can you cancel your EA Play subscription? Check eligibility and conditions
EA Play (and EA Play Pro on PC) can be cancelled at any time. There’s no long-term lock-in required for standard subscriptions. You can cancel even if you’ve just started a new billing period. In most cases, you’ll keep access to EA Play benefits until the end of the current paid period, then the membership stops renewing.
The only real “condition” is where you subscribed, because the cancellation process depends on the platform that manages billing:
- Subscribed on PC via EA (EA app / Origin / EA Account): cancel through your EA Account subscription settings.
- Subscribed on PlayStation (PS4/PS5): cancel through your PlayStation subscriptions (Sony manages billing).
- Subscribed on Xbox (Xbox One / Series X|S): cancel through your Microsoft/Xbox subscriptions (Microsoft manages billing).
- Subscribed via Steam or Epic Games Store: cancel through Steam/Epic subscription management.
- EA Play included with a bundle (e.g., Game Pass Ultimate): you usually don’t cancel EA Play separately - it ends when the bundle ends.
No penalties apply just for cancelling. The most common issue is simply cancelling in the wrong place, which can leave auto-renew turned on.
How to cancel a EA Play subscription, service or order
Follow the steps that match how you subscribed.
If you subscribed on PC via EA (EA app / EA Account)
- Go to EA Account portal and sign in: https://myaccount.ea.com
- Open Subscriptions & Memberships.
- Find EA Play (or EA Play Pro) and select Cancel membership.
- Confirm the cancellation.
- Check your membership now shows it will end/expire on your next billing date (meaning it won’t renew).
If you subscribed on PlayStation (PS4/PS5)
- On console: Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Subscriptions → EA Play → Cancel / Turn Off Auto-Renew
- On web: Sign in to your PlayStation account and manage subscriptions → cancel EA Play
If you subscribed on Xbox

- On console: Settings → Account → Subscriptions → EA Play → Cancel / Turn off auto-renew
If you subscribed via Steam (PC)

- Find EA Play → Cancel (stop renewal)

Tip: After cancelling, take a screenshot showing the status as “expires on” (or similar). Keep it as proof.
How long does a EA Play cancellation take?
EA Play cancellations typically work like most subscriptions:
- You can cancel any time, and your membership usually stays active until the end of your current billing period.
- To avoid another charge, it’s safest to cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date (especially on consoles, where renewals can process early on the renewal date).
After your membership ends:
- Games from the EA Play library remain installed, but you won’t be able to launch them unless you buy them or re-subscribe.
- Your saved progress is typically still there, so if you rejoin later you can pick up where you left off.
- Any games/DLC you purchased using the EA Play discount remain yours.
EA Play cancellation fees and final charges – what to expect
EA Play doesn’t charge a cancellation fee.
What you might still “pay” for is simply time you already bought:
- If you cancel mid-cycle, there’s typically no pro-rated refund, but you keep access until the period ends.
- If you cancel too late (after renewal processes), the next charge may already have occurred. Cancelling then stops the next renewal, not the charge that just happened.
One exception worth knowing (PC only):
- If you upgrade from EA Play to EA Play Pro through EA on PC, EA may automatically credit/refund remaining time from the lower-tier plan as part of the upgrade flow.
