Trying to cancel

Duolingo

? Avoid the runaround.

The Duolingo Family Plan (Super Duolingo Family) can be cancelled at any time, but only by the Family Plan manager (the account that purchased the subscription).

Key eligibility conditions:

• Who Can Cancel: Only the Family Plan owner can cancel. Invited family members cannot cancel the plan themselves.
• Cancel Anytime: There are no lock-in contracts. Cancelling simply stops auto-renewal.
• Access Until Expiry: After cancelling, all family members keep Super Duolingo benefits until the end of the current paid period.
• Platform Matters: You must cancel through the platform where you subscribed (Duolingo website, Apple App Store, or Google Play).
• Free Trials: If your Family Plan includes a free trial, cancelling during the trial avoids all charges.
• No Minimum Term: You can cancel after one billing cycle, even on an annual plan.
• Child Accounts: When the Family Plan ends, child accounts revert to free access with standard limitations.

In short: cancellation is flexible and penalty-free, as long as the plan owner cancels in the right place.

Choose the method based on where you originally subscribed.

A. Cancel via Duolingo Website (Web Purchases)

1. Go to https://www.duolingo.com and sign in.
2. Click your profile icon → Settings.
3. Open the Super Duolingo section.
4. Select Cancel Subscription.
5. Confirm cancellation.

You’ll receive a confirmation email. Your Family Plan remains active until the end of the billing period.

B. Cancel on iPhone or iPad (Apple App Store)

1. Open Settings on your device.
2. Tap your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
3. Select Duolingo / Super Duolingo Family.
4. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

Apple will email a confirmation and show the expiry date.

C. Cancel on Android (Google Play Store)

1. Open the Google Play Store app.
2. Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
3. Select Duolingo.
4. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

Google Play will send a cancellation confirmation email.

If You Can’t Cancel

If you no longer have access to the account or device used to subscribe, contact Duolingo Support with your account email and billing details.

Timing matters to avoid unexpected charges:

• Cancel Before Renewal: Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged again.
• Free Trial Deadline: Cancel 1–2 days before the trial ends to be safe.
• No Grace Period: Duolingo doesn’t add extra time beyond store policies.
• Access Continues: Cancelling early does not remove access. Benefits stay active until expiry.
• Annual Plans: Cancel anytime before the yearly renewal to avoid another annual charge.

Cancel as soon as you decide you won’t continue.

There are no cancellation fees for Duolingo Family Plan.

What to expect:

• No early termination fees
• No exit charges
• No penalties for cancelling annual plans
• No reactivation fees if you return later

If you cancel mid-period, you simply won’t be refunded by default for unused time, but you won’t be charged again.
